New Mexico Concealed Handgun License Course

This is the 2-Day NM Conceal Handgun Carry Course with Core Concepts Tactical Defense in Pojoaque (Santa Fe County) or Los Alamos. The first day of the class is in the Indigenous Arms Gun Shop classroom at 17841 US-84, Santa Fe, NM 87506, and the second day will start at the Indigenous Arms Gun Shop classroom and conclude at the Northern Rio Grande Sporting Club. Course Description: This is a 16-hour course using NRA and NM CHC course materials. This is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. The material covered is a blend of materials from the following courses: The material covered is a blend of materials from the following courses: NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting and the New Mexico Concealed Handgun Carry which covers the eight mandatory subject areas and concentrates on NM legal guidelines surrounding concealed handgun carry and carrying, the core principles of lawful self-defense, using a firearm for self-defense, the rules surrounding firearms safety, the core concepts of shooting, concealed carry and firearms presentation, threat recognition and the use of judgment when using force, the relevant federal, state and local criminal and civil laws pertaining to the purchase, ownership, possession transportation, and use firearms. Additionally, you will learn methods and techniques surrounding situational awareness, conflict avoidance, conflict de-escalation, dispute resolution, and suicide prevention for gun owners. By successfully completing this 2-day course, you will learn how to shoot so you can meet the New Mexico Department of Public Safety CHC proficiency requirement. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition.
